About Homeward Houndz
Born from heartbreak. Built with compassion.
Discover where Homeward Houndz began, the people behind the rescue and the mission that guides every rehoming.
Where it began
A difficult search became a determination to make change.
Homeward Houndz was founded on 17th March 2025 by Mandi, a passionate animal lover based in Birmingham, with a mission to help dogs in need find safe, loving forever homes across the UK.
The idea was born from heartbreak. After the sudden loss of her beloved mum, Mandi was left to care for Rosie, a one-year-old Micro Bully. Struggling to find a secure and suitable new home for Rosie, Mandi discovered how difficult and overwhelming rescue can feel.
After volunteering for several months and learning the ins and outs of dog rescue work, Mandi felt called to create something new — something that placed compassion, understanding and the right match at the heart of every rehoming.
Thus, Homeward Houndz was born.
Pia and Hugo
A beautiful turn for one of the first dogs rescued.
One of the first dogs rescued was Hugo, a gentle Neapolitan Mastiff who had been abandoned and was just hours away from being put to sleep. His story changed when Pia adopted him, offering the love and security he had never known.
Pia and Mandi quickly discovered shared values, passion and a commitment to rescuing dogs in a way that prioritised each dog’s individual needs and unique personality.
Together, Mandi and Pia bring different experiences and breed-specific knowledge, especially when working with more complex or misunderstood dogs. Homeward Houndz has grown into a dedicated volunteer team, with every member supporting dogs from intake and assessment to adoption and beyond.
Our mission
To give every dog a fresh start and a forever home where they are safe, loved and understood.
Support for life
Our commitment does not stop at adoption.
Whether a dog needs help because of life changes, personal crises or an owner’s inability to continue their care, each is thoroughly assessed and matched with the right people and environment.
We offer ongoing post-adoption support and work with professional dog trainers to help rescue dogs and adopters build trust, confidence and a lasting bond.
Homeward Houndz also believes in the healing power of animals. Dogs can bring emotional comfort and companionship to people facing mental health challenges or emotional trauma.
A safe future starts here
